Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second check when you log in: as well as your password, you enter a 6-digit code from an app on your phone. Even if someone learns your password, they can't get into your account without your phone.
Time needed: about 5 minutes
You'll need: your phone, and access to your eBoss profile page
Step 1: Install an authenticator app
Install any authenticator app on your phone. Popular free options:
Authy (recommended, as it can back up your accounts if you change phones)
Google Authenticator
Microsoft Authenticator
If you already use one, you can simply add eBoss to it.
Tip: turn on your app's backup or sync option when you set it up. In Authy this is called Backups and asks you to choose a backup password; keep it somewhere safe.
Step 2: Link eBoss to your app
Log in to eBoss and go to your Profile page: click your initials at the top right (or go to /myoffice/profile/).
Scroll down and click Activate MFA (1). A QR code appears (2).
In your authenticator app, choose Add account (or the + button) and scan the QR code.
eBoss now appears in your app with a 6-digit code that changes every 30 seconds.
Step 3: Test it before you close anything
Log out of eBoss.
Log back in with your username (1) and password (2).
Tick I have an MFA token (3), then enter the current 6-digit code from your app (4).
If you get in, you're all set. If the code is rejected, wait for the next code to appear and try again.
Logging in from now on
Every time you log in: enter your username and password, tick I have an MFA token, and enter the code from your app.
Lost or changed your phone?
If your app had backups switched on: install the same app on your new phone and restore. In Authy, sign in with the same phone number and enter your backup password; your eBoss code will reappear. Google Authenticator and Microsoft Authenticator restore through your Google or Microsoft account.
If not: email support@ebossrecruitment.com and we'll reset 2FA on your account so you can set it up again on your new phone.
Changing phones? Set up the new one before you wipe the old one.
Tips
Codes only last about 30 seconds. If one is rejected, use the next one.
Make sure your phone's date and time are set automatically. A wrong clock causes rejected codes.
