A: Chapter 3 of the GDPR outlines eight principle rights which data subjects now possess. They are:

  • the right to access;

  • the right to rectification;

  • the right to erasure;

  • the right to restrict processing;

  • the right to object to processing;

  • the right to data portability;

  • the right to complain to a supervisory authority;

  • and the right to withdraw consent.

If you collect data about individual EU citizens, you will now be obliged to inform them of their new rights and protections under the GDPR. At the barest minimum, you should seek to update your online terms and conditions, as well as your cookies and privacy policy to reflect this.
